The LDP Difference

The following describes the unique training culture of LDP.
Note how different LDP is from traditional education models.

  • Caring Christian Community
LDP is a unique Christian community, and some of the most significant personal growth is experienced while interacting in this close community. This is the core of true teamwork. Participants in the program have come from around Canada, the United States, New Zealand, Australia, and the UK.

  • Authentic Christianity
We want to provide a place where you can be open and honest with God. Ongoing development of our Christian character is expected. We value a radical, passionate life with Jesus and believe the Bible is the key to knowing Jesus more.

  • Transferable Leadership Skills
A major factor that sets LDP apart from most leadership training programs is our focus on transferable leadership skills. LDP encourages ongoing personal development and teaches four core transferable leadership skills. Numerous practical leadership opportunities combined with continuous feedback reinforces these skills which can later be applied to any situation. They will significantly enhance any career path.

  • Extensive Real-Life Leadership Experiences
LDP focuses on real-life leadership experiences. Each week two different LDP are designated as leaders and assistant leaders for the group. Effective time management and the ability to multi-task are continually developed. In addition, numerous opportunities are provided to hone leadership skills through facilitating school groups or planning and leading one of our adventure expeditions. • Specialized Adventure Context
Although the primary content of LDP is on the 7 cores of leadership the primary context of learning is adventure. Growing happens when we push our personal limits and stretch our comfort zones. We believe that you cannot grow while you are comfortable.

  • Feedback Rich Environment
LDP makes every effort to establish a feedback rich environment where continual, specific feedback in a context of love is expected from everyone. We learn to frequently ask others "How did I do?" and "How can I improve the next time?". This unique feedback rich envirmonment provides for significant learning opportunities as strong communication skills are honed.

    Customized Leadership Growth Plan
Every LDP is expected to develop a customized leadership growth plan that spcifically addresses the areas in which they would like to grow while at Medeba. This growth plan also serves as a model for future years after the LDP experience.

  • Compelling Sense of Direction
We have designed the program to help you discover your purpose. Part of this process will include a 3-day solo to give you time alone with God to write your personal mission statement. This is a very powerful time. We also help you explore a variety of personality profiles so you can know your unique gifts and abilities.
  • Accountability to a Leadership Partner
Each participant is assigned to a Medeba leadership partner who will help hold them accountable for the goals they establish in their leadesrhip growth plan.
  • Servant Philosophy
At the heart of all Christ-centred leadership is servanthood. Jesus himself said that he did not come to be served but to serve and this is our model for leadership. Being a servant is also core to LDP.

  • Fun Atmosphere
Having fun is a core principle of LDP. We believe that we learn better when we have fun and enjoy each other's company.

  • Extended
    Ten-Month Period

LDP extends for a 38 weeks or ten months. This is a full 8 weeks or 2 months longer than standard academic calendar years providing great value for the investment.

  • A Rich Heritage
Established in 1994, LDP continues to be a leader in providing high quality Christian leadership training in an adventure context.
