We are so convinced of the value of the Medeba experience that we guarantee it. If you are not completely satisfied we will make it right or refund your money.

General Information 2008

Weekend programs
Weekend programs are only available to allow campers to stay for the weekend between two or more programs that they are attending. Weekend programs are not a stand alone program that can be registered for.

Age Considerations
Age limits are meant to be a guideline. Exceptions are made for campers who function at a different level than their age would suggest.

Transportation
Parents are responsible for transportation to and from camp. Click here for directions.

CD ROM
Each week we produce a CD complete with a viewer and a minimum of 200 pictures from the week. Cost is $11.00 (taxes included) If you did not order a CD ROM on your registration application and would like one, please fill out the enclosed "Program Extra's Form" and return.

Cabin Group Picture
During each program a cabin group picture is taken. These 5" x 7" pictures come in a folder and cost $8.50 (taxes included). If you did not order a cabin group picture on your registration application and would like one, please fill out the enclosed "Program Extra's Form" and return.

What the Camper Should Know Before Arriving
1. Medeba is a smoke free facility. Smoking by anyone is prohibited.
2. Medeba does not permit gum-chewing on property.
3. Medeba is an allergy aware facility. Please do not bring any products with nuts or that may contain nuts.
4. Medeba does not permit campers to bring: cell phones, music playing devices of any kind or hand held gaming devices.

Behavioural Expectations
Campers are expected to treat one another respectfully. (No put downs or rough horse play) Medeba strives to resolve behavioural problems with campers promptly and effectively but reserves the right to dismiss a camper for behavioural problems at the discretion of the Directors. No refund will be made for dismissals due to disciplinary action. Parents will be responsible for the removal of the camper due to dismissal.

Medeba Open House
Our Annual Open House this year is Saturday, July 14, 2007, come and see the site try some of our activities and enjoy a complimentary lunch.

Lost and Found
All lost and found items are displayed multiple times during the week for the campers to claim. All unclaimed items are washed and stored until the end of September, at which time we donate them to a local charity. Please call the office if you have lost an item and we will attempt to locate it and return it to you.

Cancellation Policy
If a camper cancels:
- More than one month prior to the program date - full refund less $50 cancellation fee.
- One month to two weeks before the program date - the fee, less deposit is refundable. (Overnight camp deposit = $150/wk, daycamp deposit = $50/wk)
- Less than two weeks prior to the program date - all program fees are non-refundable, unless written explanation from a doctor is received, in which case the deposit is only non-refundable.
- No refund will be made for late arrivals or early departures.
- Medeba Reserves the right to cancel any program or activity due to a lack of participants.

General Information Specific to Overnight Camps


General Arrival/Departure
Arrival and Registration is on Sunday between 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. - Please respect these times!
Pick up is on Saturday between 10:00 and 11:00 am. - Please respect these times!

Mini-Blast Arrival/Departure

Mini-Blast 2.
Arrival and Registration is on Wednesday between 11:00 - 11:4500 a.m. - Please respect these times!
Pick up is on Saturday between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m.. - Please respect these times!

Coach Service (public bus service)
If you need information regarding coach service to Haliburton for your child please contact the Medeba Office.

Laundry Services
Laundry service is available for campers and is done on Friday. Each load costs $7.75 (taxes included) and is usually large enough to wash all of the camper's dirty clothing. Clothing is not separated based on colours. A separate load will need to be purchased for each laundry colour if desired. If you did not order laundry on your registration form and would like it please fill out the enclosed "Program Extra's Form" and return.

Health Issues
Health and Safety are always empasized.
Forms: Please fill out the Camper Health Form and Restricted Diet Form, provided with the Registration Confirmation Package mailed to you. Please complete these carefully be sure to includ the Health Card # and Version Code on the Camper Health Form. If there are any changes in the camper's medical condition after you complete these forms, you are responsible to inform the office, in writing, of these changes.
Medications: All medications must be handed in on registration day. Campers may not keep any medications in the cabin.
Insurance: Parents are to provide medical insurance and are responsible for any cost incured not covered by insurance, ie. medications etc.
Head Lice: For the Protection of our campers and staff lice checks are preformed at the beginning of each week, please check your children in advance of coming to to Medeba and treat if necessary. Any campers found with head lice will be, treated (call for information on treatment) for a fee of $50, or the camper will be removed from camp.
On-Site Care: Medeba has a certified First Aid Health Care Co-ordinator on site to provide basic health care. In the event of an emergency we access our local medical clinic and hospital only 10 minutes away in the town of Haliburton

Communication
By Mail: Campers look forward to receiving mail and we encourage parents and relatives to send letters. Due to our location it may take more than a week for us to receive mail. If the camper is only coming for one week, we recommend sending the letter the week before they arrive at camp. Please do not send anything through the mail that; may contain, contains, or is a nut product.

By Fax:You may fax your letter. A 50¢ charge will be placed against the campers tuck account for each incoming fax. Our Fax # is: 1-705-754-1530, please include full name of camper on fax. Campers are unable to fax back.
By Email: You may email your camper. A 50¢ charge will be placed against their tuck account for each incoming email. Our email address is: info@medeba.com, please type the campers full name on the "subject" line. Campers are unable to e-mail back.
By Phone: Campers do not normally have access to the phone. We would encourage you not to call them unless it is an emergency. If you would like to know how your child is making out, we ask that you call and talk to the cabin leader. The number to reach them at is 1-705-754-2444 Ext. 231 during meal times.

Camp Store / Tuck Shop
We call our camp store the tuck shop. Each morning the campers have an opportunity to order snack products from our tuck shop which will be delivered to their cabin after lunch. It is also open daily for campers to buy souvenirs and clothing. For security sake, campers are not permitted to keep money in their cabin. All camp store money is deposited into a debit account for the campers so they don't have to handle cash. Any remaining money at the end of the campers stay is returned. We recommend $20 per week for snacks (Souvenirs and clothing extra). Clothing ranges in price from $10 - $40.

How to pack
We recommend that you pack with your child's help. Involve them in the process of choosing what to bring so that they can identify their own belongings. Labelling everything is also very helpful. Below is a list of things that the camper needs to bring to camp.

General Information Specific to Day Camps

Registration
Sundays - 6:00 pm - Please plan on being at Medeba for 2 hours on this evening.

Orientation & Instructional Activity Sign-up
During registration there will be a time of orientation for the campers and the parents.
Discovery and Venture Day Campers will also be signing up for their instructional activities at this time. It is important to be at Medeba for this evening. If this is not possible please call the office prior to week attending.

Daily Arrival/Departure
Monday - Friday: 8:30 am - 5:15 pm, Please respect these times.
Parents are responsible for transportation. Medeba is located at 1270 KennisisLake Rd, West Guilford. Click here for directions.

Health Issues
When campers register on Sunday evening, parents/guardians are required to provide Medeba with a day phone number in case of sickness or an emergency. If a day camper needs any kind of medical attention we will call the parent/guardian who will be required to pick up the camper. In case of emergency where the camper needs to go to the hospital, Medeba will make arrangements and then will call the parent/guardian.

If campers require medications while at camp we would ask that you bring enough for the whole week on Sunday evening. Medications will be administered by our Health Care Coordinator.

Head Lice
If a Day Camper is found to be with head lice we will ask the parent to make arrangements to pick up the camper. The camper may return when the lice has been looked after.

What the Camper Should Know Before Arriving
Please discuss the items below with your child before they come to Medeba.
1. Medeba does not permit gum-chewing.
2. Medeba does not permit campers to bring: tape decks, CD players, radios, "Walkmans" or "Gameboys".

What to Bring
Bag Lunch: Unless you have ordered the Lunch Program. (see below) (NO NUT PRODUCTS PLEASE). We will place lunches in the refrigerator, please put your child's name on it, we will provide drinks.

Pair of running shoes, Beach Towel, Swimsuit, Sunscreen, Hat and
Suitable outerwear for the weather

Camp Store / Tuck Shop

(Blast campers order snacks in the morning and have them delivered after lunch) It is also open each afternoon for campers to buy souvenirs and clothing. All camp store money is deposited into a debit account for the campers so they don't have to handle cash. We ask that campers deposit enough money to their account on registration day to last the entire week. Any remaining money at the end of the campers stay is returned. We recommend $20 per week for snacks (Souvenirs and clothing extra). Clothing ranges in price from $10 - $40.

Medeba Lunch Program
We offer lunch for our day campers. If you do not want to make lunch each day for your child, you can pay $30 for the week lunch package. We ask that you would please use the "Program Extra's Form" to make this selection and return the form at least one week prior to the week your child(ren) is attending (This is for food ordering purposes).

Dietary Needs
Medeba does have a vegetarian meal plan, but if there are other dietary needs for a day camper, the lunch program is not available and we ask the camper to bring their own lunch.
