They planned an amazing trip
with just the right amount of challenging days and a
neat variety of river and ocean paddling. |

There are three choices for
camping in the Everglades one is on a raised platform
called a chickee, the other is on old shell mounds and finally there are campsites on the gulf coast beaches. |

Nathan and Becky managed to
plan our routes to
include two of each type of site. Amazing. |

What is canoeing in the Everglades
like? Well it is: Beautiful warm days, being the only
people on a huge beach, laughing around a dinner pot after paddling 26 km into the wind, running madly for your tent to avoid the bugs at dusk, listening to things splash under your chickee, seeing dolphins jump near your canoe, carrying all of your drinking water and hearing the Ranger say in a southern drawl, "don't dangle anything in the water it attracts gators!" |

It is also paddling a canoe
on the Gulf of Mexico and
experiencing the wonders and majesty of God's creation. |
